Visiting Mercara
Chapel in Madikeri Fort
Inside the Fort at madikeri, were once the Raja of the Kodavas ruled, is a renovated chapel. It has now been converted into a restored museum.
Magical Mercara
This cloud wreathed land offers superb panoramas. Swirling rising clouds kiss the rolling hillside. A haven for trekkers, the sloping plantations of rubber, cardamom , pepper and coffee of course, bedeck the hillsides.
The Lond and Winding Road
After Mangalore, a gentle climbing road goes to Madikeri-the coffee kingdom. Almost all the coffee in India is produced in this tiny district in Southern Karnataka. It also has the distinction of receiving the highest annual precipitation this side of the North East.
Freighter
Carrying Coke and Ores from Kudremukh mines, a freighter approaches the port. You can almost reach out to touch it.
Picture Perfect
What else can you want in a photo? A lighthouse, frothing waves, menacing clouds and an inviting patch of sand...
Tippu's Battery
The inlet to the ancient Mangalore port. The view is from the Battery built by Tippu Sultan.
Vacation Snaps-1
The breathtaking vista of Karavalli, or the Konkan of Karnataka never cease to amaze me. Here are some snaps of my recent trip there.
